The artist says she carries a bit of his grandmother Barbara in her: sharp eyes, sharper wit, and a habit of making everyone stand up straighter. She has two faces, one for the day, one she saves for after dark. If you catch her switching between them, keep it to yourself. Queens like their mysteries. Barb doesn’t ask for permission. She appoints her person. If she’s looking at you, well… congratulations. You’ve been chosen.
